New Brazilian Long Leading Index

Brazil, the largest economy in South America, is the twentieth country to be incorporated into ECRI's global cyclical monitoring framework with the development of Brazilian Long Leading and Coincident Indexes.

Some four decades ago, our research group pioneered the development of international economic indicator systems. Over the years, we have established the dates of recessions and recoveries for many world economies, using the same approach used for the determination of official recession and recovery dates in the U.S. We have also created coincident and leading indexes to monitor and forecast cyclical turning points in all of those economies. In some sense, this effort may constitute one of the longest-running experiments in economic forecasting.

We are also announcing the determination of new growth rate cycle peak dates for Canada, Mexico, Spain and Korea.
