Weekly Leading Index Unchanged

A gauge of future U.S. economic growth was unchanged in the latest week...

The Economic Cycle Research Institute, an independent forecasting group, said its weekly leading index was unchanged at 137.1 in the week ended April 21.

The index's annualized growth rate slipped to 2.9 percent from 3.0 percent the week before, however.

"Weekly leading index growth, though off its February high of 4.8 percent, has stabilized lately," said Lakshman Achuthan, managing director at ECRI, adding that this points to moderately healthy U.S. economic growth prospects.
