Weekly Leading Index Falls

...The Economic Cycle Research Institute, an independent forecasting group, said its weekly leading index fell to 136.3 in the week ended July 21 from 136.9 in the prior week.

The index's annualized growth rate edged up to 0.6 percent in the latest week, compared with 0.4 percent in the prior week. ECRI revised its annualized growth rate for the week ended July 14 to 0.4 percent from 0.3 percent.

"With weekly leading index growth remaining well below the high seen in February, U.S. economic growth is slated to ease in the coming months," said Lakshman Achuthan, a managing director at ECRI.

The annualized growth rate reached 4.8 percent in the week ended Feb. 3, Achuthan said.
