Weekly Leading Index Edges Up

A weekly gauge of future U.S. economic growth edged up in the latest period..., a report showed on Friday.

The Economic Cycle Research Institute, an independent forecasting group, said its Weekly Leading Index rose to a 25-week high at 137.5 in the week ended Nov. 3 from 136.1 in the prior week.

Annualized growth in the week ended Nov. 3 rose to 0.3 percent from minus 0.3 percent in the prior period -- a 15 week high.

"With WLI growth rising to a 15-week high, the U.S. economic growth outlook, while still lackluster, has improved slightly," said Melinda Hubman, research associate at ECRI.
