Weekly Leading Index Edges Up


A gauge of future U.S. economic growth edged higher in the latest week..., a report said on Friday...

The Economic Cycle Research Institute, an independent forecasting group, said its weekly leading index rose to 135.6 in the week ended Dec. 30 from 134.9 the prior week.

The index's annualized growth rate was unchanged at 1.4 percent.

"The index of late signals moderation in U.S. economic growth in 2006," said Lakshman Achuthan, managing director of ECRI.
