U.S. Inflation Pressures Elevated

An index designed to anticipate cyclical turning points in inflation increased for a second straight month in November to the highest level since the peak in March.

At the same time, a smoothed version of the annualized growth rate increased to 3.7% from a downward-revised 3.3% in the prior month.

The Economic Cycle Research Institute said Friday that its Future Inflation Gauge increased to 118.6 in November from a revised 118.1 in October...

"The U.S. future inflation gauge is still near its March high," said Lakshman Achuthan, managing director at ECRI. "In other words, inflation pressures remain elevated and the dollar's weakness could indirectly add to those pressures."
